AutonomousWeapon presents a satirical video as a warning

Video published by Stop Autonomous Weapons
In this “unreal” video (with a Black Mirror atmosphere), a staged scene projects us into a dark future where drones capable of killing through facial recognition would be used.
The idea is probably to send chills down our spines. However, let’s be honest, it would probably not be well accepted by the public. I have a hard time imagining public opinion applauding this kind of weapon.
On top of that, a 4-rotor drone is not the hardest thing to counter. We could easily make other drones that target them, set up nets, use automatic hacking antennas, or even EMP discharges to disable them. In short, there would be no shortage of solutions...
That said, Stop Autonomous Weapons is not completely wrong about the concept, but whether weapons are autonomous or not, the murderers are the people who use them.
And to bounce off that idea, drones with facial recognition could be useful for finding people wanted by the police, in addition to public cameras. It would not necessarily be a bad idea.
In short, innovation can be frightening, but it is necessary, as long as we do not do just anything with it....
