Why can we no longer repair a washing machine?

In Sarrancolin, near Lourdes in southern France, at the company AES, David Noguero explains why washing machines are no longer repairable.

According to him, appliance manufacturers do everything they can to push us into buying new devices.

He explains that on newer versions, parts are welded rather than screwed, preventing disassembly for repair, whereas 15 years ago washing machines were built to be repaired.

He points out that this practice goes against the global trend toward waste reduction and ecology. Forcing consumers to throw away an appliance because of a simple faulty bearing in order to make more profit is not a normal method.
