The 6 English-speaking science YouTubers I follow
I’m introducing here six English‑speaking YouTubers I regularly watch, all of whose channels revolve around science. None of their videos are translated into French, so you must understand English to enjoy them.
SmarterEveryDay
SmarterEveryDay, which translates to “smarter every day,” is a YouTube channel created by Destin Sandlin around 2007. It’s an educational channel that now has about 7 million subscribers. Originally, Destin was a graduate engineer from the University of Alabama with a military background in the U.S. Air Force.
Besides impressive video editing quality, he has a knack for presenting information in a very enjoyable way. He radiates positive, enthusiastic energy. I don’t know how he does it, but he gets into restricted areas and lets us experience them in his videos. The NASA, the military, and even President Obama are among the subjects he covers and meets.

Mark Rober
Mark Rober is a talented engineer with an inventor’s spirit. He presents science in general, often accompanied by gadgets precisely built for the videos he shows us. He doesn’t hesitate to go to great lengths to share cool stuff on a variety of topics. He sometimes teams up with Destin Sandlin on certain subjects.
He’s a very fun character, full of energy and humor, and he worked for NASA for nine years, seven of which were on the “Curiosity Rover,” now on Mars.
I highly recommend his channel!

Veritasium
Derek Muller offers a wide variety of content on very different topics. He presents surprising facts about unexpected elements of our everyday life. These videos are science‑popularization, allowing a broad audience to understand everything they contain.
He’s a friendly, smiling personality with very diverse subjects. I recommend him.

Captain Disillusion
Alan Melikdjanian presents these videos under the persona of Captain Disillusion. He explains in detail various special effects created numerically, mainly in content wrapped in a unique, entertaining atmosphere.
Originally, his channel mainly explained why and how certain viral videos were “fake,” hacked, or tricked. Now, he gives us a bit of everything about modern video processing.
It’s a must‑watch if you’re interested in this topic.

Cody’sLab
Cody is passionate about physics and chemistry, sharing all kinds of experiments—often with his partner by his side. Unfortunately, his channel recently lost everything after the U.S. government flagged his videos for discussing isotope separation, uranium, or joking about not yet having an atomic bomb.
Worse, YouTube’s algorithm suddenly censored most of his videos. His latest post explains the situation, combined with personal struggles, leaving his channel nearly empty today.
Great guy, great videos—just bad luck.

EveryDay Astronaut
Tim Dodd is a rocket propulsion expert, covering everything from NASA to SpaceX with deep, detailed analysis. I love his videos, though I sometimes lose track after a few minutes when the explanations get too technical for my level.
He clearly knows his stuff about space agencies—American, Russian, or Chinese.
